florals and brights

After some hideously cold and rainy weather, the weekend seemed to perk itself up in more ways than one. The clouds parted ways to bring about a wonderfully sunny day yesterday (but then we fell victim to a huge hail storm last night so I'm not sure how glorious that all was), but I also picked up these gorgeous floral skinnies at the Edgars sale. And I love them!
They are too perfect for Spring/Summer! I can see I'm going to wear these in pretty well in the next few weeks - paired with loose shirts, pastels, nude wedges, neons... the list goes on!

mmm-acaroons

I simply adore these dainty, delectable treats! I'm imagining a small plateful with a cup of tea right now, mmm.
Would be perfect too, seeing as Winter is just not going away here in Joburg and it's still pretty nippy outside!

Does anyone know where I can find really good macaroons?

colour and print!

Another round of shopping this weekend already!
With all the pastels and beautiful colours in the shops this season, it's near impossible to resist buying an item or two.
And so yes, my wardrobe is continuing to fill with pastels and prints!

bacon and broad bean tagliatelle

Today at work I received a huuuuuge bag of organic broad beans, tenderly grown and picked by a client from work, straight from his garden! The first thing that sprang to mind was "ooh yum, broad bean curry!" (I've never been that independently creative when it comes to new and exciting dishes). And it was to that reaction that he told me that I need to make a delicious bacon and broad bean pasta.

Now, which dish would you rather go for? Of course, the pasta!

And it was so easy to make!
All you need is a packet of bacon - which I very lazily cut up with scissors - one chopped onion, a decent handful of broad beans, some garlic and seasoning. Toss this all together and brown, then add a generous blob of cream and let simmer whilst your pasta cooks. When the pasta is done, drain the water and plop it in the saucepan with your porky, beany goo and mix together.

The above breakdown is somewhat brief, so if you want the exact recipe take a look over here.

The dish was immensely tasty, although perhaps ever so slightly rich. Perhaps a little less cream next time.

Yum!
