What a scorcher!

It was absolutely boiling here this weekend, but what beautiful weather indeed!

Took a little trip to Sun City (in the North West of South Africa for those international readers out there) for the day yesterday - had some lunch, completed by a couple of refreshing beers of course! Also tried my hand at some gambling, which I was horrible at, but I think that's partly due to the fact that the Sun City casino hasn't had a makeover in some 20 years so I felt like I had taken a time capsule back to the 80's!

Bright, patterned carpets and gold walls, giant casino chip ornaments and fake jungles all ensured a sensory overload of note!

But it was good fun, and a nice pleasant change from my daily weekend practices of eating at local restaurants and shopping for unnecessary items (Hello Kitty cat collar charm for Frankie comes to mind... hrmmm.)

It's Friday!

Weekend time is upon us!

I'm going up to Sun City tomorrow for the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

And by that I mean that I will most probably find a restaurant to eat in, perhaps some shops to peruse around, and maybe a spa to occupy an hour or so of my Saturday.

Mince Pies & Smoky Eyes

It seems as if my blog has become a one weekly post phenomenon.

Perhaps I should change the name to The Weekly Smile, or something of the likes? I promise to return to more regular posting as from now. I've just been a bit swamped with work and studying (which are a very unfortunate match I might add. No one wants to nestle into a big pile of Psychology textbooks after a day in the office dammit.)

The birthday girl.

Yesterday we went to Pretoria to a gorgeous little place called Full Cream Cafe for my friend's birthday.

What a beautiful spot, which was superbly decorated by mama birthday girl.

We ate sublime food and sipped yummy champagne, and had a wonderful afternoon.

This is what I wore to dinner last night with my mama which was sublime - beef fillet with red wine jus and summer veg, and a perfect little Tiramisu to end it off, all swallowed down with a bottle of bubbly to share... yum!

Grapes

Last weekend I went to Benoni for lunch at a place called Grapes.

It was lovely!

My best friend, Giselle, and her boyfriend invited us for some lunch and beverages and a sweet afternoon was had by all!

Us girls guzzled sparkling wine like it was juice, and had lots of funsies.

Benoni is so sweet and old-school, and I must admit I missed out on many photo opps when dodgy old cars drove past and crusty old men sang R&B tunes from their dated BMW's.

It's lovely with plain white and black vests, and it doesn't look that bad with my new chiffon vest with the beading detail (also from Woolies - I went a bit mad there last weekend).

It reminds me of a piece of some amazing space rock.

Yup, like I'm carrying a fragment of some meteor around my neck, how cool?
